Holmes writes about his life in Victor, Idaho, his relationship with his family which included four children, his activities as a drug store owner, his work as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church), and his participation in civic affairs. Blair Holmes, Harold's son, transcribed the materials into typewritten form.

Blair R. Holmes was born 29 June 1942 in Victor, Idaho to Harold Harper Holmes and Audrey Muriel Berger Holmes. Following graduation from Teton High School in 1960, where he was both senior class president and class valedictorian, he attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. After one year of study at Idaho State he left, in the fall of 1961, for Austria where he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
